Cheryl who? Joss at loss over X Factor judge
Post Date: Sep 13, 2009

Joss Stone is beautiful, talented and never shies away from controversy. But has she been living in a cave? Because I can reveal that Joss has never heard of the Nation’s Sweetheart, Cheryl Cole.

I caught up with Joss at the O2 Rockwell concert on Friday to benefit the Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy charity, and the conversation turned to the X Factor and the subject of Cheryl.

Our chat went like this: “What do you think of Cheryl Cole on X Factor?”

“Cheryl, who? Cheryl Cole? What does she do on the show? I don’t have a television and I don’t know who she is?”

As my jaw dropped open I realised she really wasn’t joking as she looked completely perplexed. Giving her the benefit of the doubt I said: “Cheryl, from Girls Aloud.” But still to no avail. Singer Joss looked utterly dumbfounded. A PR for the star pitched in nervously and said: “She really doesn’t have a television.” I didn’t doubt her!

But it’s not even as if Joss has been living in America for the past few years – she’s been in Devon and hardly ventured out of the country. Bonkers! Anyway, the songstress also spoke to me about the outcry over her American-style accent that was first exposed at the 2007 Brits when she presented an award with Robbie Williams. She certainly didn’t have a Yankee twang this time – she was elegantly British when we chatted!

Joss, who releases her fourth album Colour Me Free in October, told me: “You have to just say ’so what’ if people slag you off in this game. If people don’t like me, what can I do? I’m a nice person and I know that and the people that matter know that.

“Sometimes I’m in America and sometimes you pick up a twang. Big deal. I will talk however the f*** I want to.” I have no idea if she’s been a nightmare in the past – she was a joy to talk to. Even if she doesn’t know who Chezza is!

THE grand opening of new Exeter music club Mama Stone’s is only days away with a star-studded line-up to look forward to, including Devon’s own Joss Stone.

The venue, in Mary Arches Street, opened last month. It is owned by Joss’s mum Wendy Joseph and her husband, Jonathan.

Joss is lending her support by performing an intimate gig at the venue, which has a capacity of 250.

The grand opening weekend starts this Thursday with acoustic singer Adam Isaac, followed by blues legend Johnny Mars on Friday.

Soul singer Mica Paris will perform on Saturday night, with Joss Stone performing on Sunday.

Tickets to see Joss sold out weeks ago.

River Rush Gala in Tulsa
Post Date: Aug 28, 2009
Archived under: General News

Wednesday morning, the River Parks Authority made a big announcement about the first ever ‘River Rush Gala.’

The event will be held on the grounds of the Blair Mansion, known to many as the huge well manicured lawn, at 31st and Riverside in October.

The Gala will be the first ever fundraiser for the River Parks, and Wednesday’s big announcement has to do with the evening’s entrainment.

Grammy Award winning artist Joss Stone will play her first concert in Oklahoma at the Blair Mansion for River Rush.

The Gala will start on the morning of October 10th with a 5K run, followed by exhibits all day by river parks patrons with disc golf, and kayaking to name a couple.

The evening will be capped off with a dinner on the lawn of Blair Mansion and a concert by Joss Stone.

This will not only be the first time the public has the opportunity to donate money to the River Parks, it will also be the first time the public is allowed on the grounds of the Blair Mansion.

“We’ve all driven by it, we’ve all admired it for as long as we lived in Tulsa, but this is a chance to actually come onsite, and to have an outdoor concert on the river is something pretty special for Tulsa,” said Steve Bradshaw, the Vice Chair of the River Parks Authority.

The money from the event will go towards building new signs along the River Trails.

Tickets for the event are set to go on sale this Saturday. The reserved seating will cost $75, and the general admission will cost $55. If there is rain on October 10th, the event will move into the BOK Center.
